Full text (PDF, 240 Kb). Abstract The closed matter cycles should be maintained by natural selection of local ecosystems of finite size. The existence of local ecosystmes is possible provided that (1) the physical diffusion of biogenic fluxes does not exceed bioproductivity and (2) there is a definite distribution of biodestructivity over the body sizes of heterotrophic organisms. |
